Biochemistry is the study of chemical processes that take place in all the living beings. The research occurs in the molecules of cells of animals, plants, and other organisms. Scientists have transferred to bacteria the human gene that produces insulin-a hormone that regulates the body sugar. The bacteria then produces insulin which treats diabetes.
However biotechnology has generated public concern and questions of morality of interfering with the hereditary makeup. The ethics and safety of the uses of gene altering has caused unease about its harmful effects. Hence many countries regulate biotechnological research and its products, while scientists follow safety guidelines to guard against their accidental release.
The research in Biochemistry and Biotechnology encompasses a broad spectrum of knowledge and requires an extensive almost religious study. Their contributions to the fields of medicine, biology, chemistry, physics has stretched the human scientific comprehension. Although both being interesting and novel fields of study yet assignments in these subjects can be uncompromisingly tough involving a wide and varied research.
